My son turned me on to these, I was reluctant at first, being a bit of a valve snob, but when I hear it, I was sold. I started with the 100 watt head, primarily because it had midi control, but I was disappointed to learn you could only control the most basic of functions. It comes with a variety of output volumes, has a recording output, 8 patches and some internal speakers that almost work at gigging level.
I then swapped an old pedal for the 50 watt combo, shown left. This is lightweight and has plenty of volume. OK, it’s not the same as a cranked valve amp, but it’s close. They really are wonderful value for money. Sadly, it can’t handle acoustic guitar, but you can’t have everything.
